Since 1994, Jim has focused on energizing and empowering learners and communities through his university teaching, civic artivism, and professional teacher trainings.

Jim's teaching and trainings rest on: 

inclusion, collaboration, embodiment,

mindfulness, creativity, integrative learning,

experiential/interactive learning, empathy, the power of play

​

Jim holds a doctorate in Comparative Literature with an emphasis in race and gender studies in postcolonial African and African diaspora literatures.
